Allotropa virgata, aka sugarstick, is a striking parasitic plant of the Pacific Northwest. It feeds exclusively on the mycelium of matsutake mushrooms. You aren’t necessarily likely to see these two species within inches of each other or in peak growth at the same time in the year, but if you see one then the other is sure to exist in some form nearby.
This original goauche painting is 8"x12" (10"x14" total dimensions) with a custom wood frame.
